More Than a Sparrow

This poem is based on Matthew 6: 25- 34. Just trust in the Lord, do not worry, have a positive outlook in life.

You do not need to
build your nest on high branches
to take care of your offspring
My arms are your shelter
In spring, winter, fall and summer
You are more than a sparrow
You’ll have a better home than an igloo

You do not need to
chirp and tweet all the day long
to express what you feel
Say a little prayer
In times of joy and danger
You are more than a sparrow
Count on me and I’ll remove your sorrow

You do not need to
fly and search for a fruit
to extinguish your hunger
Foods plenty on my table
That replenishes you to be able
You are more than a sparrow
Cling to me daily and you’ll grow

You do not need to
soar high in the wide, endless sky
to seek for wisdom
Follow the way that I have traveled
And your future will not be stumbled
You are more than a sparrow
I have great ideas for you to know

My child, you are more than a sparrow
I care for you yesterday, today and tomorrow
